I’ve moved to the south and I am back in school studying marketing. There are a few really cool things about my program: it’s analytics heavy, and I love getting to learn how people and businesses go about launching/buying products. I’ve learned that I am an informed consumer but also a highly emotional decision maker.
These purchases reflect that.
I moved to a new city, and I really do think that informed a lot of these decisions.(Again…emotional decision maker.)
Dr. Jart+ – Ceramidin Starter Kit ($34.00)
Emotional rationale for purchase: I stopped into a new Sephora when I was slightly down, and fell in love w/ the full-size cream but wasn’t quite ready to commit to the $48.00 full size tube so I ordered the sampler online.
This little duo is amazing. An important thing to note: the products are teeny tiny – I do feel I was slightly ripped off with the size. This cream claims to provide “…ultra-moisturizing, elasticity, long lasting, moisture protection, more powerful moisturizing cream…” LITERALLY, THAT IS EVERYTHING THAT I NEED IN A MOISTURIZER.
This performs so so well. Everything about this is simple, a simple tube, naturally scented, and it works. I’ve been using the duo day and night and it’s the perfect amount of hydration for my skin. Becuase I have dry skin I usually opt for very intense moisturizers that leave my skin slightly tacky – this doesn’t do that. I’m definitely going to be purchasing the full-size cream and liquid.
Two notes:
- The liquid is a serum texture, not oily
- I noticed that Amazon is selling the cream for $39.00 instead of $48.00. Just saying…
milk + honey – Everything Oil ($32.00)
Emotional rationale for purchase: So milk+honey is very popular in my new city. It’s a very “Cool girl …Oh look at me I’m so hip and natural ” brand. I totally fell for the hype and looked for parking for like 25 minutes just so I could go into their spa/store and spend money.
This oil is fine. It smells nice (if you like the way natural oil smells) and it doesn’t make me break out. I usually use it at night after I wash my face, and slather it all over. Again, I have incredibly dry skin- if you don’t… I really don’t think you would like this. I don’t think I would purchase this again because it’s relatively cheap to just by straight argan oil that can do the same thing. I was a sucker for the cute apothecary glass bottles and whole “story” around the brand.
I also purchased their natural cream deodorant in Coconut Lemongrass. It was so awful and disappointing. I have nothing against natural deodorants (literally love Native & Piper Wai) but this was actually crap. $16.00 crap. It melted in my car and rather than waiting for it to solidify I threw it out. The weirdest thing is that everyone is legit crazy for this deodorant – if you go to any cute boutiques in the area they will carry milk + honey deodorant and swear by it.
Glossier – Priming Moisturizer Rich ($35.00)
Emotional rationale for purchase: I was talking to one of my friends in the program and we were bonding about liking glossier and she mentioned really liking their priming moisturizer. I had been wanting to try out their skincare but knew from other reviews that the rich version would be better for dehydrated skin. I bought it half because I was running out of my moisturizer/ and half because I wanted to report back to my friend. It’s embarrassing, but whatever.
General thoughts about this product:
- A good amount of product for Glossier
- This made me breakout so so badly. I am very lucky to have skin that doesn’t break out – but this paired with the heat – was an awful combination
- The does leave you slightly oily – again, for me, that’s not the worst but I can see this being a nightmare if your skin isn’t dry
- Pots suck. I don’t understand why they still exist for moisturizers. I literally only use it with clean hands but it still feels unsanitary
- I would never purchase this again… but I am using what I have left for my cuticles and hands because this product wasn’t exactly a bargain
That’s all! I’m loving this new city and loving getting to experiment with new products – truly that is my happy place. I’ve purchased a bunch of things since the last time I posted and I can’t wait to share them.
Happy Sunday! 🙂 ❤
Thanks for the detailed review.
